Mumbai (or as we say Bombay) has been the hub of cricket over the past four decades. Players like Vengsarkar, Gavaskar, Shastri, Tendulkar, Sharma, Rahane, etc. have been groomed in Bombay cricket culture. The real feel of the Bombay cricket culture is experienced at Shivaji Park, Dadar and Azad Maidan, Churchgate. The real essence of Bombay is when you travel through the public transport (BEST, Local train and Taxis) and see the young kids in whites practicing on a hot and humid day. First, it was the passion for the game that developed because of the cricketers Bombay produced. Second, it was the cricketing culture that we went through to understand the nuances of the game. Excellent infrastructure facilities including a beautiful Wankhede along the shore, just added to the excitement of playing the game. Not only the team at Cricket 361° but also the young kid inside everyone of us owes it to Bombay for bringing us closer to the game.
Cricket 361°, began its journey from a mere blog idea to a full-fledge cricket analysis website in April 2014. Without any doubts, we had our thoughts and ink flowing for our home team, Mumbai Indians. Well, it was more due to an emotion we Mumbaikars shared for our fellow Mumbaikar, Sachin Tendulkar. It is an unfathomable fact as to how one player can have a long lasting impact. Having grown up in Bombay in the 1990’s we, the founders of Cricket 361° have watched our first cricket match at Wankhede. It is analogous to a small boy continuing the tradition of the family by playing ‘gully’ cricket. We were a part of the crowd on multiple occasions witnessing Mumbai Ranji team, India and Mumbai Indians record famous victories. We grew up with Bombay changing to Mumbai. But, Wankhede stayed the same, The ‘Mecca’ of Indian Cricket, as quoted by Sourav Ganguly.
Team Cricket 361° had the opportunity of a lifetime, which we are going to remember forever. Our co-founder, Tejas Chaudhari was invited at Wankhede to get a sneak peek of Jionet. It was a special moment for someone like Tejas, who has devoted his life interest to cricket and its nuances. With this representation at Wankhede, we became the first cricket blog to experience Jionet. A proud moment for Cricket 361°.
Below is the excerpt from the review we received from Tejas:
Once we got inside the stadium, we saw all the players from both the team sweating it out in practice session. More importantly, because of Jionet I could share these moments instantly with my friends. Needless to say, they were super happy to get a sneak peak before the actual match. Here are some shots which were taken by a fellow blogger:
It so happened that as we were enjoying this ‘first-of-a-kind experience’ inside a stadium, it was some kind of a dream come true moment bestowed upon us. Using the live video chat feature of Jio Chat, we could chat with none other than Sachin Tendulkar, who was just done sharing his expertise with the youngsters at Mumbai Indians. I could not control my emotions neither could the fellow bloggers and we could witness a child inside us shouting and hooting for Sachin.
It was an unbelievable experience for a person who has worshipped cricket and Sachin since time unknown. It really took a while to sink in the amazing few hours we spent inside the stadium. I think this a path-breaking technology, which will really enhance the experience of the fans. With more children and women coming to IPL games, the Jionet will be an excellent tool for them to share memories instantly with their loved ones. Be it selfies or brilliant match moments, fans will enjoy seamless 45 Mbps high speed internet. Mr. Rahul Razdan, while talking about Jionet said something very relevant in today’s time, “Today along with Food, Shelter and Clothing, Connectivity has become a basic need.”
It is a very humbling experience for a young team at Cricket 361°, to be a part of the cricketing extravaganza that is followed over every part of the world. We would like to thank to Mumbai Indians for letting us experience Jio chat and Jionet and for this extraordinary moment of glory. As we mentioned earlier, it is Mumbai (Bombay) that has helped us grow closer towards this game. A trip to Wankhede reaffirmed our belief 🙂
